AP Project Based Learning APSI hosted by RIDE

Plus up to five online 90-minute follow-up sessions throughout the school year. 

This series is appropriate for new and experienced AP teachers interested in adopting a project based approach for their AP course. 

Bring PBL to your classroom 

The AP Project Based Learning Series helps teachers adopt a project based instructional approach that uses engaging, student-centered projects to drive the learning throughout the course. The projects in the series were developed using high quality project based learning design principles and collectively encompass the content and skills required for success in AP and beyond. 

Workshops in the AP Project Based Learning Series for these subjects are designed and delivered in collaboration with PBLWorks, the premier organization in PBL teaching methodology, and will help teachers:

 ● Identify how AP content and skills are developed within and across the course projects

 ● Apply high quality PBL design elements and teaching practices 

● Simulate and model PBL practices using examples from the course projects 

● Adapt and prepare to implement the projects with your students

What’s included in the AP Project Based Learning Series Like other research based workshops that are shown to have a positive effect on student performance, the AP Project Based Learning Series requires a commitment to sustained professional learning throughout the school year. The PBL series includes: 

● Four days of professional learning during the AP Summer Institute (30 hours), including access to project implementation guides and instructional materials.

● Up to five online 90-minute sustained support sessions held in the evenings during the school year (timed with the anticipated completion dates of each project and the launch of the subsequent project). Teachers can choose from several different dates and times for each of these sessions.

Participants receive continuing education units (CEUs) for attending the AP Summer Institute and have the opportunity to receive additional CEUs for attending support sessions throughout the year.
