APSI Information
Loyola University's 2026 Advanced Placement Summer Institute will be conducted July 6-10. Each workshop will be led by College Board-certified AP consultants and will provide participants with the experiences necessary to successfully teach an advanced placement course in their discipline. Loyola's AP Summer Institute is officially endorsed by the Midwest Regional Office of the College Board and is run by Loyola's Center for Science and Math Education.
Location
All sessions besides AP Environmental Science will take place at our beautiful Lake Shore Campus in Chicago, Illinois (map). The Environmental Science workshop will be held at the equally beautiful Retreat and Ecology Campus in Woodstock, Illinois (map).
Schedule
Check-in will be 8:00am - 8:30am on Monday, July 6
Sessions will be held:
- 8:30am - 4:15pm Monday, July 6 - Thursday, July 9 and
- 8:30am - 1:00pm on Friday, July 10
Room & Board
The registration fee includes lunch, and morning and afternoon refreshments, Monday through Thursday. On Friday, only morning refreshments and lunch will be provided since it is a half day.

Certificates & Credit
All participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance following the successful completion of their workshop (minimum 30 contact hours or 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)*. In addition, participants will have two options available for professional development credit:
- 30 - 32 Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs): Loyola is an approved Professional Development Provider for the Illinois State Board of Education
OR
- 3 graduate credit hours from the academic department in which the workshop will be housed (NOT including the AP Human Geography Workshop). Registration for this graduate credit and payment of the $922 additional tuition (82% discount from Loyola's customary tuition) will be done on-site during the week of the Institute. Each workshop facilitator will determine additional work required for this option.
*Participants with teaching licenses in Pennsylvania or Washington must follow the steps outlined on the Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Frequently Asked Questions page to have their earned hours accepted by their state.
