The AP Project Based Learning Series helps AP teachers implement an engaging and student centered project based instructional approach in their classrooms. The projects in the series drive student learning of content and skills outlined in the AP course framework.
The AP Project Based Learning Series will help you:
- Identify how AP content and skills are developed within and across the course projects.
- Apply high-quality PBL design elements and teaching practices.
- Simulate and model PBL practices using examples from the course projects.
- Adapt and prepare to implement the projects with your students.
Academic Year Support Included in the AP Project Based Learning Series
The AP Project Based Learning Series provides the opportunity to attend professional learning throughout the school year. The series includes:
- Project Implementation Guides that provide adaptable course planning and pacing, recommended assessments and assignments that encompass the entirety of the course.
- 4 days of online professional learning during the AP Summer Institute (30 hours), including access to project implementation guides and instructional materials.
- 5 optional online, 90-minute support sessions on evenings during the school year. You’ll be able to choose from several dates and times for each of these sessions.
You can receive continuing education units (CEUs) for attending the AP Summer Institute and may receive additional CEUs for attending support sessions throughout the year.

The registration fee includes both the 30 contact hours during the AP Summer Institute and the subsequent contact hours for attending the online support sessions during the school year.
About this Workshop
Q: Why are the online workshops hosted over 5 days at Augsburg?
A: We schedule our online APSIs for five days to provide the participants and consultants with a better educational experience. The consultants have a lot of flexibility with how they schedule their week. One of the days (most of the time Friday) is a small day, and this allows for the content to set in better throughout the week, and provide additional time for questions and discussions to get the most from the workshop. Our surveys have consistently shown that a published 5-day schedule is better than a 4-day schedule for online workshops.
All workshops will provide 30 hours of continuing education; however, the schedule may vary slightly based on class enrollments. Throughout the week, you should expect a combination of synchronous and asynchronous work with some whole-group and small-group activities. Attending our online APSI this summer includes the following benefits:
1. 30 hours of continuing education credit (equivalent of 3.0 CEU in MN)
2. Option to receive FREE graduate credit at the end of the session (stacked with CEU)
3. Ability to continue interacting with classmates throughout 2026 by using the virtual classroom from the Augsburg APSI
4. You will receive additional in-year support sessions through the College Board.
5. Reduced tuition rate from our normal on-campus pricing
6. You can sleep in your own bed!
Most importantly, we've received very positive feedback from attendees of our online APSI the last five summers.

The Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI) has been hosted at Augsburg University (formerly Augsburg College) for almost 30 years. Augsburg's APSI is built on a strong foundation around teacher education. We offer K-12 licensing programs along with a Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Arts in Education.
