Deciding which AP courses to offer, and where they fit best, is one of the most consequential choices a school or district makes for student access. The Building Your AP Program Webinar Series is designed to support that work, introducing the new AP® Course Sets as a practical way to match AP courses to the priorities you are already pursuing, whether that is expanding access with a first AP course, adding a nationally recognized AP signal to your honors courses, or bringing college-level AP courses into your CTE pathways. Each session gives those who shape course offerings, from district leaders and content specialists to school leaders and AP coordinators, a clear starting point for building a program that reflects local goals. This session, Make Honors Count, begins with the rigorous work already happening in your classrooms, where students take demanding honors courses that colleges cannot always see. We will show how converting select honors courses to AP makes that rigor visible through a nationally recognized signal, why an AP course is often easier for colleges to interpret than honors alone, and how the shift strengthens the academic record students present in admissions. You will leave with strategies to build your AP program focused on recognition, including how to identify which honors courses are the strongest candidates to convert, so more students stand out for the advanced work they are already doing.
