Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the Course Fee?

Included in your course fee is instruction, the College Board "Bundle" of course materials, any other materials that the instructor wishes to provide, and meal tickets redeemable at campus eateries.  All materials will be distributed during check-in on the first day of instruction.  Included in the lab fee are any lab supplies or field trips.

How do I register?

The College Board requires that all registrations for AP® Summer Institutes be submitted online, and registration requires the use of your College Board account.  For information regarding your College Board account, please contact the College Board Call Center for support: 877-922-6273.

Registration on your behalf by administrators is not permitted per the College Board.  Please click the "Register For This APSI" button at the top of the page.

How do I know I am registered?

After completing the online registration you will receive a confirmation email at the email address used when registering, indicating that we have received your registration request.  We will provide final confirmation when payment is received. If you do not receive your confirmation contact us at cts_registration@csus.edu.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit card payments made at the time of registration are preferred. If your district cannot accommodate this we can accept an "off-line"  payment in the form of a check or purchase order.  These alternative forms of payment must be provided prior to the start of the APSI.  Note that a Purchase Order is a commitment to pay, not actual payment.  It is the responsibility of the registrant to ensure that final payment is received.

Arrangements for scholarship payments will be made with the College Board for those awarded scholarships. Please see our Scholarships page on this website.

Where do I send payments?

All payments and financial settlements are handled by the endorsed APSI.

If payments of check or Purchase Order are required, they must be made directly to the APSI (Sacramento State) and not the College Board. All questions regarding payments and status of registration must be directed to individual endorsed APSI sites.

Payment must be made prior to the start of instruction, checks and/or purchase orders should be made payable to Sacramento State and mailed to:

Advanced Placement Summer Institute  c/o Sac State, College of Continuing Education 3000 State University Drive Sacramento, CA 95819

800-858-7743

What if I have a College Board Participant Grant?

If you have been awarded a grant from the College Board, please select "AP Participant Grant" as your form of payment.

Refund Policy:

A full refund, minus a $25 processing fee, will be issued for cancellations received in writing by June 12, 2026. All cancellations must be received in writing and emailed to cts_registration@csus.edu. Phone messages will not be considered a proper form of cancellation.  Beginning June 13, substitutions can be made but refunds will not be issued and registrant is responsible for payment of the entire course fee.

Media Policy:

The College Board frequently videotapes and records its events and meetings. By attending this event you consent to being recorded and/or photographed, and authorize the College Board and/or its agents or licenses to use any recording and/or photographs, as well as any statements that you make ("Footage"), in any medium (including, without limitation, audio, video, print, broadcast, etc.) throughout the world at the College Board's sole and exclusive discretion. The College Board may also edit, distribute, exhibit, publicize, advertise, and otherwise exploit the footage in all media and formats, now known or hereafter developed, for commercial and noncommercial use.

You agree that you will not make any video or audio recordings of any APSI sessions, for any use, including personal use, without the prior written consent of the College Board.

Accessibility:

The College of Continuing Education would like to ensure that all participants enjoy their learning experience. Please contact Shannon Ebler at shannon.ebler@csus.edu by June 12 to alert us to any special needs.  The classroom buildings provide accessible access for wheelchairs, including elevators.

Do the workshops ever get cancelled?

The College of Continuing Education makes every effort to maintain the published workshops schedule.  If a workshop is cancelled by the APSI, participants will be able to enroll in another workshop or receive a full refund.

Can I get academic credit?

Yes. There is a $130 fee for 2 credits, which requires the completion of an additional assignment which is provided by the instructor for your session. Please see our "Academic Credit Request" page for details.

Attendance:

Attendance at all sessions is mandated to earn credit (if requested in advance) and a certificate of completion. Workshops are Monday-Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. The session length of 30 hours is mandated by the College Board.

Clothing and Climate:

Please dress comfortably and casually for all workshops. Sacramento's summertime climate is HOT! Typically in the mid-90s or higher. But air-conditioned classrooms may be chilly so a sweater or light jacket is recommended while indoors.

What are the arrangements for Breakfast and Lunch?

Meal tickets will be provided for both breakfast and lunch each day. You will receive all of your tickets when you check in on Monday morning. The tickets can be used at  campus eateries and are included in your registration fees. Participants are responsible for their own dinner arrangements. A variety of restaurants located near Sacramento State offer a wide range of menus and prices.

Location:

All AP workshops will be held on the Sacramento State campus. Please see our "Location" page.
