Call for Proposals
Submit a proposal for a main conference session by Monday, November 16, 2026.
Sharing Your Knowledge
The AP Annual Conference is an opportunity for members of the AP and Pre-AP communities from around the world to share experiences and best practices. You can help the community by presenting your knowledge, experience, discoveries, and ideas to attendees.
Take a moment to review the information below and read the proposal submission tips before starting your submission.
Describing Your Session
- Conference sessions can be led by teachers, college faculty, school administrators, school counselors, or any other professional from across the broad spectrum of education.
- Your description should make the topic and target audience of your session completely clear.
- Sessions can only have one subject. If your session falls under multiple subjects, choose Multidisciplinary or Pre-AP Interdisciplinary.
- Your session process must outline how much time will be spent on each component of your session. Sessions with clear timelines are usually well received by the committee.
- If accepted, your session title and description will be published online in the conference program.
- Attendees should be able to quickly read your description and clearly understand what they’ll learn in your session.
- Avoid using abbreviations, acronyms, or references that attendees might not be familiar with.
Proposal Review and Requirements
All proposals will be reviewed by the AP Annual Conference Steering Committee using the scoring rubric.
College Board is an authorized provider of continuing education units (CEUs) by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In order for us to grant CEUs, all sessions must have measurable learning outcomes. Your proposed session must include clear learning outcomes and describe the actual skills participants will develop during the session.
Examples of measurable learning outcomes:
- “Participants will examine a model AP program from Dalton High School, and then develop 3–5 strategies for implementing best practices in their own schools and classrooms.”
- “Participants will create a lesson plan to teach analysis of narrative structure through a discussion of an author’s intentions.”
- “By learning about different assessment methods, participants will compare the effectiveness of formative and summative assessments. Participants will then design 3 formative assessment activities that they can use.”
The AP Annual Conference Steering Committee will review all proposals, and we’ll notify you of its decision on your proposal in late March 2027. Please note that not all qualified proposals can be accepted. You’ll have one week to confirm your intent to present at the conference. Before confirming, be sure to secure any funding for your attendance. It’s important to ensure you’ll be able to attend before you commit to presenting.
Session slots are limited, and each year we receive more submissions than we’re able to accept. If you accept a session slot and are later unable to attend, that spot gets offered to another qualified speaker. However, by then potential speakers may no longer have funding secured or may have already committed their time elsewhere.
Please confirm your intent to present only if your attendance is certain.
Commit Before You Submit
Please only submit if you're ready to commit. Confirm your funding and, for international speakers, your visa timeline, before submitting — not after. Late withdrawals leave sessions unfilled, cost another speaker their spot, and mean the community misses out on that learning opportunity. We track speaker reliability, and late drop-outs for foreseeable reasons may affect your eligibility for future conferences.
Session Categories
We’re seeking proposals in the categories listed below. Please be sure to review these categories before drafting your session proposal.
Building and Improving Your AP Program
Sessions in this category examine state and district AP initiatives and show participants how to use data to improve an AP program, build and/or strengthen higher education partnerships, motivate students in an AP subject, or develop AP Vertical Teams/curriculum alignment.
Data-Driven Instruction
Sessions in this category show participants how to use data/assessments to determine instructional strategies, examine strategies for DBQs and FRQs, or assess strategies for text analysis.
Opportunity and Access
Sessions in this category explore differentiating strategies or introduce participants to various policies, programs, and services to build opportunity and access within their AP programs.
Exam Results
Sessions in the category are delivered by members of the AP Development Committees. They provide attendees with data on the current year’s exam results. Don’t select this category unless you’re a development committee member delivering a 2027 Exam Results session.
Instruction and Assessment
Sessions in this category show participants how to design, plan, and sequence instruction or use resources to provide students with an enhanced instructional experience. These sessions also help participants understand difficult concepts to teach and learn, deepen knowledge of a specific time period, increase understanding of major issues within a content area, or explore strategies to assess student preparedness for AP Exams.
Session Logistics
All main conference sessions are scheduled to run for 75 minutes. You should plan your session to allow for sufficient Q&A time.
All rooms are equipped with a microphone, LCD projector, and screen. Additional requests are subject to approval. Please note that we may not be able to honor all AV requests, especially late requests and last-minute, on-site requests. Session rooms are set up theater style (all seats, no tables) with the exception of Chemistry and Biology sessions by request; no further exceptions can be made. If your Chemistry or Biology session requires a table, please notify us no later than May 14, 2027.
Guidelines and Procedures
- Submit a proposal only if you’ve secured funding to attend the conference and only if you’re available to present at any time during the main conference. Session slots are limited, and accepting a slot is a firm commitment. It holds a place that another qualified presenter could have filled and promises a learning opportunity your fellow educators are counting on.
- Scheduling requests will not be honored, and we can’t guarantee that your session will be scheduled on a particular day.
- Speakers are offered a discount on the main conference registration fee. Note that speakers must pay to attend the conference.
- Speakers and co-speakers are responsible for their own travel, hotel arrangements, and expenses.
- Submit no more than 2 proposals, either as a lead speaker or co-speaker. Obtain co-speaker consent before you list these individuals. Remember to provide their contact information.
- As the lead speaker, you’re responsible for including your co-speakers within the session proposal to ensure they receive communications from College Board regarding your proposal.
