Deciding which AP courses to offer, and where they fit best, is one of the most consequential choices a school or district makes for student access. The Building Your AP Program Webinar Series is designed to support that work, introducing the new AP® Course Sets as a practical way to match AP courses to the priorities you are already pursuing, whether that is expanding access with a first AP course, adding a nationally recognized AP signal to your honors courses, or bringing college-level AP courses into your CTE pathways. Each session gives those who shape course offerings, from district leaders and content specialists to school leaders and AP coordinators, a clear starting point for building a program that reflects local goals. This session, Start with One, begins where many students do, ready for advanced coursework long before they ever raise their hand for it. We will show how a single, well-placed AP course in 9th or 10th grade can turn that readiness into real participation, why a late, stacked AP model quietly limits access, and how one high-interest course with few or no prerequisites (think AP Human Geography, AP Seminar, or AP Spanish Language and Culture) creates a practical on-ramp to rigor. You will leave with strategies to build your AP program focused on expanding access, including how to choose that first course and offer it early, often by replacing an existing course rather than rebuilding your whole schedule, so more students can start building momentum toward your school's college readiness goals.
